Course Description 

Secrets, Codes, and Ciphers

Instructor(s): Kirsten Hogenson, Mathematics and Statistics 

An introduction to the history and mechanics of cryptography. In this course, students will learn how to make (and break!) a variety of famous and increasingly complex ciphers. As part of this process, students will discover and utilize the mathematical tools necessary to analyze and decrypt secret messages. С¸£Àûµ¼º½ will also investigate and discuss the use of, need for, and implications of cryptography in historical, cultural, and scientific contexts.
