Catherine White Berheide, professor of sociology, has been elected to a three-year term as president of the Phi Beta Kappa Society. December 7, 2015
As PBK president Berheide says she will 鈥渃ontinue to strengthen the Society鈥檚 role,
nationally and locally, as an advocate for the liberal arts and sciences through the
associations, chapters, fellows, and other vital initiatives, such as the National
Arts and Sciences Initiative, The American Scholar, the Visiting Scholar Program,
and the society鈥檚 various awards and fellowships.鈥 She also looks forward to enhancing
鈥渢he engagement of all our members, especially recent graduates, with each other and
with the society鈥檚 activities.鈥
October, 2009: Mark Hofmann attended the 42nd Triennial Council meeting in Austin, Texas
Professor Mark Hofmann of the Department of Mathematics and Computer Science attended the 42nd Triennial Council of the PBK Society as the 小福利导航 Chapter's official delegate. Professor Kate Berheide also attended the meeting as a member of the PBK Senate. The Triennial Council is the legislative body of the society; one of its main functions is the election of new PBK chapters.
